HANNAH VIOLA STARCHER

Welcome to My Writing Portfolio

I am newly ecstatic about my writing and I hope that readers will share my enthusiasm! Every article, product description, and poem was carefully thought out and holds some form of meaning to me. Most of these pieces were written at varying times in my educational career. Others were written in the hopeful start of my writing and editing career. If you wish to read more, feel free to check out some of my other work. Please, don't hesitate to contact me.

PAST PROJECTS

A Varied Collection of Works

HAIBUN POEM: "HOOPIE"

March 2018

This is a haibun (combining prose with a haiku) poem of mine that I had written about my family in West Virginia. This is the first Haibun that I had ever attempted to create, and I am proud of the outcome. I hope that you will enjoy it as well.

BRAMBLER BOUTIQUE

 PRODUCT WRITINGS

June 2018 - Present

I have been working with Brambler Boutique, a small and innovative women-run start-up company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have been asked to help them create their product descriptions. These are just a handful of the works that I have created throughout several different brands.

Ekphrastic Poem: "The Workers' Routine"

November 2018

While in one of my classes I was given the opportunity to write about any art piece of my choosing. This ekphrastic (vivid description of a scene, most commonly a work of art) poem was written in inspiration of John Sloan's The Coffee Line. Each line and stanza represent what I believe to be happening within the painting. This particular poem was a joy for me to write, given the playful and creative nature of the assignment. It helped me to think outside of the box, allowing my imagination to push itself into creating new people, spaces, and eras.

Tiny House Blog Post

February 2019 - Present

I have been writing articles and reviews for a tiny house website. The link below is an article that I wrote on simple vegetables to garden. My other articles for the tiny house website can be found on tinyhouselife.org.

Poem:

"Washing the Flowers"

July 25, 2019

My odd way of walking through generational similarities and differences - washing dishes, specifically flowered china.

"Let me live, love, and say it well in good sentences."

- Sylvia Plath
